The next day was mostly going to be on the road so it wasn’t necessary to wake up bright and early. After our relaxing morning breakfast, we boarded the bus eager to stop at our next destination. When people think about Italy, the first thing that comes to mind is usually the art, the food, or the red-roofed tiles right? However, I haven’t seen a single red roof since the beginning of this whole tour until now. Sienna isn’t really popular because it isn’t much of a metropolitan city. Though Verona was also small, it was famous for being the site of Romeo and Juliet. Sienna, on the other hand, didn’t really have any historical monuments, but that didn’t stop most people from considering it the best city in Italy. Like the Leaning Tower, Sienna is also located in the middle of nowhere. However, Pisa is always crowded due to its hot tourist attraction. Sienna, however, looks exactly like an Italian village straight from a movie. It’s filled with red bricks and red tiles and like Florence and Pisa; it also has a bell tower. The tower is located in a giant square and was an inspiration to create the bell tower in Florence. Though it lacks the artistic structures that are available in Florence and leaning structures that are available in Pisa, the authenticity of the village is matched by no other. On every corner, there are butcher stores, cafes, pizzerias, and much more. Not only that, they also have the authentic pebble streets. We were able to take as much as time as we wanted in Sienna because it was our only stop for the day. Finally, we arrived at the San Nicola Park hotel. The hotel was newly built with granite floors and an aristocratic theme. Once you enter, the owner’s 1 million dollar Jaguar sports car would greet you before you go to your room. The dinner and the rooms obviously exceeded everyone’s expectations. In fact, I believe the dinner we had these past two days were far more superior to the Chinese restaurants in Italy. With all you can eat pasta, steak, fruit, and everything being free who could complain? Since these hotels were located in the country side, we didn’t even need to contact the front desk to give us a morning call. We had a natural alarm clock just outside the window, a majestic rooster.
